jan 31 2004 started out the night at tiswas at don hills. cabbed down the fdr dri9ve from 86th st to houston. cousin bruce on wcbs fm, motown dance party, mary wells, stevie 'yester me yester you.' had cinnamon apple tea. curt, marty, justine d, kerri black, & ingri attended. ingri brought an olson sis' puzzle. she does look a bit like ashley. somke good ART COLLABORATE W/INGRI. SUPERBOWL PARTY . aerial love feed [rocket house ] played: they & the everyothers are ny's best bands since 2000. set list: "lock n load. pedestal. retrieve the info."

* next down to arc, darren gave me $10 reduced. lee burridge played a nasty techy set til 7 am. some progg sounded likem genesis w/kickdrum. crowd screams, many bombs. ***3/4 of 5 stars.

feb 5 2004, beavher at don hills. jessie from nancy boy played. guitar, bass + no songs. guests incl gregg, donna, hilary rosenman, vito fun. frank's best songs: tenderness. upside down. its a shame. emotional rescue. you sexy thing. turning japanese. rockstar drink took me til 330. it snowed. marvin on cbs fm 'got to give it up' *** of 5 stars

Boy George DJs ! pinstripe suit, silvery makeup, fedora hat. plays inikamoze hotstepper, missy work it/ passthe dutch. mark game me drink tic & comp for juniors red party at SF !! cynthias party, chat w/ larry tee, lady bunny, senior from jnr senior !! STAYED TIL 130. **1/2.

feb 15 2004. started out the night at justine & michael's MotherF***** party at Centrofly. It was 20 degrees. It was the 1 and only time I ever attended this infamous scuzz rock party. it was valentines & presidents day. I was comped the $25 admission by duke & jester at the door. it was really crowded & hot. ran into Jesse from salford lads/sadie/alps. we watched "!!!" [chik chik chik] who were pretty new, 1 45 out I think. around this time people were talking about "nyc punk/funk" with I guess rapture/DFA being leading names. !!! has returned to well-deserved obscurity. Listen I saw A CERTAIN RATIO on their 1st & 2nd LP tours, and this !!! shit was really embarassing. with some hives/strokes garage influence thrown in for added amateurishness. talked to jesse malin from DGen, he said Niagara is good on fridays. ron m was there on stilts, moco jumbi wha ? lool. it was hot & fun, like a tristate rock scuzz convention. spotlight on New Jerz lool. songs: shannon let the music play. stardust music feels better. cheap trick elle kiddies. pretenders precious! bowie hang on to yrself. hot hot heat. it was good while I was there til 2 am. ***1/2 of 5 stars. but I never went to another MFer. Centrofly's been closed for years. and JUust, Michael, Jonny & George all ended MFer a few years back under cloakede deep acrimony & antipathy. Justine I will always love you. Rawk n Roll !!


* next up to Sound Factory 46th st [now pacha] for junior vasquez' RED party. I was comped the $40 admission at the door by mark nelson - not bad for 141 years young, eh? ! Got there 230. junior played melodic house & classics, warming up. madonna deeper & deeper wild vocal mix. bango. 'take me higher' diana remix ? cool lights, fog, crowd was UP & wasted. U2 "Lemon" over dark progg beat was so cool. junior even whipped out some 200 bpm hardcore techno just to open our eyes a bit! stayed til 530. Im sure it went til noon. ***3/4 of 5 stars. Junior might be among the most famous house DJs & producers ever but he STILL never gets the props he deserves- when he is "ON" he can stand with the greatest DJs Ive ever heard live - and Ive heard pretty much every 'name' dj.

.. feb 19 2004. started off the night at pianos. djs incl montgomery- is he with 2 many djs? i dont think so. cool mashups: missy freak on/geoirge michael faith. 50 in de club/NIN closer! and funky cold medina. white light motorcade headlined, great hard set: open your eyes. semi precious. my way. all gone. love it. dream day. whats happening. come together. on top. great set *** of 5 stars.


* then over to beavher at don hills. guests incl xtina aguilera + SNL cast. chrissie miller. iris. jenn stillwell. best songs frontin, its a shame. stayed til 4. **1/2 of 5 stars.


feb 21 2004: my first visit to CROBAR west 28th st. later called studio mezmor. then mansion. now M2 ! King was at door. excellent renovation, looks a lot like miami crobar/cameo. huge dance floor w/2nd flr booths. mix of savvy ny clubbers & 201 guidos. but fun atmosphere. erick morillo headlined, subliminal winter sessions tour. he came out on fire, ibiza stompers, filtered house. euro disco. hi-lites coldplay god smiled. wackassMFer. midnight express chase. noah tepperberg came after marquee closed. stayed til 530. lots of energy & good erick set **** of 5 stars.

Feb 26 2004: beavher at don hills. got there 1130. brass in pocket. de doo daa daa. richie birkenhead got into a brawl at the door & was arrested by 4 cops. ojays love train. andrea true moremoremore. **-1/2* of 5 stars

feb 28 2004: started the night at don hills tiswas. aerovox played. sounded like byrds/pixies, not bad. whitelight motorcade headlined. set: semi precious. whats happening. my way. tom petty listen to her heart. *** for the bands. *1/2 for tiswas.


* next down to arc for danny howells his legendary 1 year monthly residence. loved his chunky funky hose 3-5 am. ****. then 5-7 played more techy, 2-1/2*. stayed til 7 am - not bad for 141 years young!!
