january 11 1994 there was a snowstorm in nyc. its about 10 degrees this week, 2nd week of jan 2009

jan 12, 1994 I went to maxwell's in hoboken nj to see lloyd cole solo acoustic . here are some highlights of the set: perfect skin. unhappy song. charlotte st. waterloo sunset. Im not like everybody else. lola!! [3 kinks covers!]. jennifer she said. so youd like to change the world. brand new friend. my bag. 2cv. undressed. down on mission st. forest fire. mr. wrong. seen the future. perfect blue. I have read these were LCs 1st solo gigs ever! 15 years ago hes benn solo since about 2000 live and his albums are too !

jan. 15 1994 it was 15 degrees in nyc. tomorrow 1/16/09 may be 5 degrees in center city !

jan. 29, 1994 i went to nell's [now Plumm on w. 14th] with actress/dancer adelita laura bonnici, guests hip hop legend & pioneer LL Cool J, who was dancing a lot, hanging out casually & enjoying the excellent R&B, funk & hip hop tunes in the basement. dj hi-lites on the night downstairs incl. taana gardner's heartbeat, tupac I get around, the shoop shoop song, marshall jefferson's house music anthem, & gap band outstanding. Nell's which opened in autumn 1986 was one of NYC's top clubs of the 80s & 90s, with an inspiring mixed crowd from fashion & art beautiful people to the wealthiest socialites & euros to the most savvy club kids & homegirls. Im not aware of any club in nyc in the 21st century that has anywhere near the elegance & vibey, mixed crowd that Nell's had in the 80s. I would say that the last club that came close was the Tunnel in its heyday circa 1987-1995. if youre looking for a fun-filled, a little bit of everything Studio-style crowd in nyc in 2007 I think youll be disappointed. In that way the glory years of studio, area, nell's, tunnel, mudd club & danceteria are indisputably superior to anything going on in nyc clublife in 2009. somebody text peter gatien asap.

jan 30 1994 the dallas cowboys beat the buffalo bills in the superbowl. Im all about the steelers [or ravens] in 2009 !!

some of my favourite cds in jan 1994 incl. lloyd cole's bad vibes, ice cube's the predator & lethal injection, ride's going blank again, the lemonheads come on feel, morrissey's new 45 the more you ignore me the closer i get, [with his genius 'vauxhall & I' LP to foloow in spring, 1994] and PiL's 2nd edition & paris au printemps. hopefully RIDE will reunite one day & moz's years of refusal is 1 of 2009's most anticipated LPs.

some of my fave tv shows in jan 1994 incl AAA & emll wrestling on galavision, [incl ultimo dragon vs negro casas!]. in japan, big van vader vs nobuhiko takada. and on wtbs wcw with ric flair & sting vs. vader & rick rude. NFL football, melrose place, repeats of david lettermans nbc late night show on E! TV, & the banana splits. 15 years later it's all about CNN news + NFL on ESPN CBS & FOX .
on public access tv, grandma's homemade cheese, jake's squirt tv, and my own weather report show were written about in TimeOut New York, NY Press, & the Village Voice in 1994. I had a cable TV show from 1983 - 2007 . I am looking forward to a new "Weather Report" show on Comcast cable

some of my business meetings in jan 1994 incl hammer gallery on 57th st, mimi ferzt gallery in soho, & jed root in soho. On 57th st, Pace is still good & I saw Jed Root's makeup credits in feb 2009 "W" tonight.
