: Media #21/ Aerobics Workout/ Andy Warhol Museum"
"Media 21/Aerobics Workout" a media & video deconstruction show filmed between May 23, 1994, and June 21, 1994.
Here are the main topics & themes

Newspaper Deconstruction: Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis had just died, and my Weather Report segment from May 23, 1994 serves as a memorial and tribute to her, using various newspaper images and headlines from the Daily News, the Post, and the Times. The same week, the Andy Warhol Museum had just opened in Pittsburgh, PA, gleaning many newspaper headlines & stories including Liza Minelli, Marilyn, and Brillo in the Village Voice 5/24/94. Warhol's great film "Empire" in the Voice 4/5/94. Ann Landers in the Daily News from 5/16/94 with a banana split headline, On 5/26/94, warhol was on Pg. 1 of the NY Times not for his museum, but because of a huge lawsuit by his estate that his finances had been mis-managed. Patric walker, the NY Post's genius astrologer. The comic Meet Mr. Luckey from the Daily News. Hilton Kramer's NY Times deconstruction "Times Watch" from the Post's editorial pages.

POP Art: besides Andy Warhol stories, quite a few POP art signifiers are featured, including the National Enquirer tabloid's Lucky Blue Dot, a doll & commemorative plate of Elvis Presley from his 1968 comeback special, US stamps incl. roses, pinecones. Snapple Iced Tea including flavours banana nectar, mango, & old fashioned iced tea. A clip from the cable TV show "Grandma's Homemade Cheese" also features Snapple in a bit of a Weather Report symbology double or triple whammy. Spiderman in the Daily News full colour Sunday comic. Iced teas from Tetley & Lipton. Capuccino. A Grizzly bear beer stein! Campbell's soup. Sprite. Seagram's seltzer water. Canada Dry seltzer. The sleeve for Blur's new 45 "Girls & Boys" from Parklife, which wopuld catapult them to superstar status as the year progressed. The Flintstones. Spirit Soap. famous Amos' chocolate chip/pecan cookies.

Aerobics Workout: Probably the highlight of this episode is an aerobics workout led by the gorgeous model & actress Adelita Bonnicci, who was obsessed with working out in the summer of 1994. She was kind enough to lead an aerobics workout session on video for us on the afternoon of 6/17/94, in her skimpy leotard, shaking her stuff to the music of Suede, I think youll agree Adelita truly is a "leotard fantastique" come to life.

Fashion Models/Actresses/Film: This episode highlighted some of the top models of 1994 as seen in W & Harper's Bazaar, incl. Kate Moss [!], Christy Turlington, Amber Valetta and Bridget Hall. our favourite Shannon Doherty in the film "Blindfiold" reviewed 6/3/94. Shannen's father Tom for father's day. Heather Locklear. Steven gaines wroteb a Calvin Klein bio that was previewed on 6/17/94. Alec Baldwin's film "The Spirit" opened: of course the Weather show was called "The Spirit" from 1989-93.

Weather headlines: Traffic Weather in the daily News 6/3/94. A bizarre poem from the Village Voice 6/5/94 "Tonya Harding & the Weather" which seemed oddly cognizant of recent themes from our Voice-deconstructing TV show. A NY Times arts & Leisure headline from 6/21/94 "Stone Temple Pilots: Rock's Weather Vanes" which also seems to resonate with the name of our band, the Weather Vains.

Sports: the NY Rangers at last won the Stanley Cup after a drought of almost 80 years. this was front-page news & celebrated all over NYC on 6/17/94 A preview of the 1994 World Cup.

If that sounds like a lot in 29 minutes, It Is!! But I think youll agree youve never seen any newspaper/media deconstruction TV show quite like the Weather Report. I think youll also agree that these themes of Andy Warhol, POP art, top models, extreme weather, sodas, seltzers & teas, and hollywood stars in tabloid magazines, have only grown in interest popularity & cultural landmarks. Be There!!
